View Full Version : vacuums
It's almost time for me to invest in a "real" vacuum. I've avoided it for years, but it's time to bite the bullet. I'm thinking maybe a Miele.

Does anyone own a Miele Vacuum?

I'd never even heard of them before, but dd got a Dyson and thinks that thing is the greates thing since sliced bread.
I'm basing this on reviews and not personal experience.
Dysons seem to be the hot trend in vacs. There are a few things about them that have me leaning toward Miele though.
For one thing, the sound. Mieles are said to be more quiet. Another thing are the attachments. Miele's attachments are mentioned being easier to attach and better quality.
I have a hepa bagless vac now and at first I thought the clear cannister was a good thing because I could see the dirt. Now I think it looks dirty and I hate that feature. Also the weight of dysons and I believe neither have self propel. I've heard Dyson tip easily too. Then again, if I pull the hose on my current vac, it tips. duh. lol I guess it would depend on how much pull causes it to tip.
Miele does have bags that can get costly, but they have auto sealing on them. That is something to consider since I've had a hepa bagless and HATE how the dust flies when I empty the container into the trash.
Plus, no retractable cord on dyson.
Then I start thinking how much I miss my central vac that I had in my old house. *sigh*
I bet I go with central vac.

I have had a Dyson for the last eleven years .I wouldn't have any other vac.Mine is a nice pink and purple one.I find mine easy to use.I have never had any problems with it tipping over and it is also easy to carry up and down stairs,I also like the fact that I don't have to bother with bags.I would highly recommend the Dyson.
As a self employed cleaning lady for way to long, I have to say the Miele is the best! It's light, has great suction, a long cord, and I find it's quiet - well, as quiet as a vac can be. Good luck in making your choice. caw
