We have a closet under the staircase that we have our tree in & the rest is up in the attic.
No decorations up year round, lol.

I have two large bins in the laundry room where they are stored out-of-season.

LOL!! I just dealt with this issue today in my house.
Let me just say, the room that is becoming the baby's room has been my Christmas storage area since we moved into this house a year and a half ago. As of today, however, all of that stuff has been displaced so we could set up the crib and baby stuff.
I go a little crazy at Christmas.... I have seven trees. :D (Three full-sized, the others are smaller.) Along with all those trees I have a ton of decorations for every room, the stairway, outside lights, etc.
So, finding a place to store all of this is a problem now that we don't have the extra room anymore. I think the trees will go to the garage, and the boxed decorations will go to the basement. Right now most of it is shoved into my craft room or the basement, but, it won't stay there. I really need to go through it all and do some serious purging, though!

We used to store them in the basement, and then last year we decided that we wanted to free up space down there, so we put everything in the attic. I have no idea why we thought that was a good idea. Maybe because we only need to take the stuff down and put back up once a year, but let me tell you...that was a BAD idea .
Our attic is accessible through the closet in the MBR using pull down stairs. That in and of itself is a PITB because the door to the closet needs to be all the way opened to the wall or the stairs don't have enough room to come down. The stairs are steep and narrow. It was not fun hauling all that stuff down here from the attic (especially our 7' tree), and when we take it down this year, it will be going in the basement again. I'm thinking it will go under the stairs. There's no closet there, but there should be plenty of room.
We're switching our Christmas storage to the upstairs bonus room. It's empty now since my mom and I did decluttering. We don't have a lot of decorations, so it's mostly the tree that takes up space.

Our Christmas tree is stored in the basement (we have a partial one) and the decorations are stored in a top cupboard over my linen closet.
