View Full Version : Don't use my Cuisinart

I just put my Cuisinart in the cupboard to make space for the coffeemaker (dh has suddenly decided after 33 years that he is a coffee drinker). I had to admit to myself that I wasn't really using it as much as I should, so it was what had to sacrifice the counter space.

However, I love that thing. Aside from shredding lettuce and cheese, what are some other reasons for using a Cuisinart? Maybe I'll bring it back out and something else can go away. (Like the coffeemaker  )

Amy, by Cuisinart I assume you mean a food processor. Mine is one of the few appliances actually in the cupboards, but I do haul it out to slice loads of veggies like carrots for a salad and during summer especially to make the family's fave veggie dip.
Ds uses it to shred potatoes for potato pancakes. Other than that, I can't think of anything I use it for anymore; and I was adamant about urgently needing this gadget once.:D

It makes great "crushed" ice for homemade snowcones, will puree avocados for guacamole, chop nuts, whip cream, etc... .

Wow! The food processor is the ONLY appliance that has earned permanent counter space in my kitchen!

I use Canadian Gardener's [over @ sister site Homestead Garden] trick of making cookie dough logs ... in the food processor. Here's the link: http://www.homesteadgarden.com/forums/showthread.php?t=756

I slice a lot of veggies after a big shopping trip ... or when my SHARE order arrives.

I make sausage-and-peppers by slicing peppers, then onions, then precooked sausage -- and throwing it all into the crockpot.

I make coleslaw ... and while I'm at it, I shred veggies for stir-fry.

And I shred a whole bunch of onions at one time. Some go in a Tupperware container in the fridge; the rest go into onion soup.

Sometimes I even get out the mixing blade and make ham salad in the food processor.
