View Full Version : Do you have small appliances you rarely use?
But still keep them because you do use them on occassion?
I do, my all in one kitchen center. I only pull it out when I am canning in the summer (to slice cukes and onions for bread & butter pickles) and at Christmas time for making large batches of cookie dough and the grinder attachment to grind nuts.
If I had more counter space, I would probably keep it out and use it more often. LOL

Meat grinder, but I refuse to part with it because I do use it when we get deer meat.

My toaster oven doesn't get used on a regular basis, so it's stored in my china cabinet. Also my George Foreman.

Do you freeze the meat after you grind it up? We meant to do this one year (bought the grinder that year) and then for some reason ended up freezing the chunks of meat instead. About the only way I like deer meat is ground, or made into summer sausage by the local butcher.

I rarely use my crock pot, though I'm going to try to get into the habit of using it more often. Same goes with my rice cooker. DH doesn't really like the rice cooker -- he's partial to that nasty ol' minute rice stuff (blechers!).
Bright Blessings!

I too resisted the rice cooker but now I love it!!! Use it almost every day. And real rice is so much cheaper than minute rice.
I have a waffle iron, small food processor, pizza cooker, breadmaker, cappiciano machine, rotissirie that i barely ever use.
I once told BF that we are the masters of cooking appliences since we have every one ever invented

Only 2 items that I rarely use - my Tater Twister (given to me by my mom since I love curley fries - this is the machine that cuts potatoes into curley fries) and a Salad Shooter. I am hoping to replace the Salad shooter with a food processor someday, but I haven't seen a model I liked or wanted yet. And the Salad Shooter was also a gift.
I use my crockpot and Foreman Grill a lot, though the crockpot probably not as often as I should.

My Kenwood Chef mixer. I tend to use my food processor for most mixing, but at Christmas the Kenwood comes in handy for making the Christmas cakes!
I really should start using it more often though!

There isn't much in my kitchen I don't use regularly ... but I'll have to say the waffle iron my DH bought. Every once in a while he'll pull it out to make waffles on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I'd pitch (sell/give away) the thing myself, but he seems to enjoy the process of making them for everyone so who am I to take that away from him ... that alone is worth the space in the cupboard! I guess. :o ;)
I do have a punch bowl/glasses sitting unused for YEARS in the cupboard up above my fridge that I just haven't been able to let go yet (belonged to my Grandmother) .. but since it's not an appliance that's a different subject. :)
