View Full Version : where is your laundry area?
Unfortunately ours is in the basement. It's a large laundry room, but hauling laundry up and down two flights of stairs gets to be a real pain.
If we stay here, we were planning on putting the washer/dryer in our hall closet. It's huge and would fit our washer and dryer and the doors would still close. We'd need to sort out how to vent out, etc but it sure would make life easier.
We had considered a laundry chute from upstairs, but that really didn't solve the hauling upstairs. You'd think it wouldn't be such a big deal, but with a family of 5, it sure is.

smnoel, ours is in the basement, too. Unfortunately, we have have no room on the main floor to change that, so I'll just have to live with it, I guess. But you are right, hauling laundry up any flight of stairs, much less two, is a PITB.

Don't laugh.....but at this moment my washer is sitting outside the garage hooked to the outside spigot. Right next to my clothesline. We're having problems with the water inside the house (pressure, filteration and drain lines). When DH comes home week of 24th my dryer will be brought in and put on main floor and vented out the window. I wish I knew about the water problems before we moved here. :(

We moved about a year and a half ago. We had a 2 story with full basement in Kansas, laundry in the basement. You are right, hauling laundry was a pain. But my kids are a little older, so it was a great chore! Here, we are in a one story, and the laundry area is like a hallway in from the garage. I hate it!!! Everyone in and out of the garage is traipsing through the laundry area, and there is no room to really spread out with drying racks and ironing set up. I do miss the basement laundry room!

Mine is just off of my kitchen, I have no basement. I can see how having to haul that much laundry up and down is a real pain. I can't imagine it with a baby plus 2 other kids...whew!

Here in Florida, we know nothing of basements and second floors! (hee hee)
My laundry room is off of my kitchen, it also accesses my private bathroom.

Basement and it's a pain in the patootie!
Ours is in the basement as well in our 2nd bathroom  . I have one flight of stairs to climb. I am hoping to next year or at least one day have a side porch built off of the kitchen to house the washer/dryer/freezer (behind closed doors :D ) as I mentioned to dh if we plan on staying here I don't want to be a senior citizen one day having to climb stairs to do laundry etc.

We have a laundry room off our kitchen. Well, thats being generous, its the entrance area from the carport. Its only about as wide as the washer and dryer together and there is storage above.
