We have lived here for 4 years now and never had a problem with putting our garbgage out but we got a letter from the town the other day stating that we are doing it wrong:confused: .

They said that we have to put our garbage out the day before between 4pm and midnight and that we are putting it too close to the road? I think other people got the same notice as they have also started putting their garbage out the day before and all I can say is What a Mess it is by the next morning with the animals getting into them and ripping them apart. I think the garbage company has brooms or something to sweep up all the mess as it was gone when I got home from work yesterday.

We had always put our garbage out before leaving for work in the mornings as on the days in which I have been home on garbage day they have never come to pick it up before noon. They have 1 driver and 2 men working to pick it up so I can't see them wanting to count the bags after midnight to see how much they have to pick up the next day.....

Anything which we don't want which we think someone might like to have we put out the night before though......like we had a couple of older bikes , pool ladder and an old exercise bike we put out a couple of weeks ago and within the hour someone had come to pick them up but then came back 1/2 an hour after that to make sure it was ok :) .

When do you all put out your garbage? The night before or the day your garbage is schedualed to be picked up?

If you do it the night before, how do you prevent animals from ripping it apart? I guess we will have to pick up a couple of containers....they are expensive though , the big ones but if we have no choice...........

I put mine out the night before as there is no set time for the garbage men to come and I don't want to miss them. I put mine in big rubbermaid garbage cans with lids on them.

We put them out on trash day morning. I don't put them out the night before because I don't want them ripped apart.

We have large Rubbermaid trash cans that we put them in with lids. Sometimes the raccoons figure out how to get in there anyway, but for the most part, they are safe. We put ours out the night before. They come around 6 am here.

It varies for me as to what time I put mine out. I have heard that if you spray the bags with amonia and water mixed that the animals will stay away.

We put ours out in the AM. It has to be at the curb by 7 for the garbage people.

We go to the landfill here, but in PA we put ours out in the morning as we were leaving for work.
