We have a light beige couch set (that was mine before we got married) and it currently has rust-colored throw pillows on it (that were DH's before we got married). I've mentioned a few times that I want to get new throw pillows that would better co-ordinate with the couch and the room, but each time DH just says "You'd get rid of MY throw pillows??" and I drop it. Any suggestions? We don't usually fight about decorating styles (he actually comes with me when we go shopping and helps pick out a lot of things - tablecloths, sheet sets, towels), but I really want to get rid of these throw pillows.

I'd make a wishlist and leave it on the counter where he can see it. Doodle on it with lots of happy faces and mark the new throw pillows on the paper, so it stands out the most. Then write down the url of the throw pillows you want.

Then when you get a chance, pop into the conversation how happy you'd be to have the livingroom feel more like your (meaning yours and his) home.

I didn't have this problem. Gabe was very happy to be rid of all things "B.G." aka before Gabe. lol He also came into our marriage a "light packer", so I didn't need to get rid of or replace anything of his.

Maybe you could find a new place for his pillows, so he doesn't feel bad.

OR get your throw pillows and just place them in front of his. lol I bet he gets the hint sooner or later.

Sorry..I'm horrible at advice, but wish you lots of luck on getting the pillows you want.

I'd just recover his pillows, they are still there... under their new "dust" cover, all safe & protected.;)
