Do you have a spice rack? If so, what kind? I have a very nice spice cabinet that pulls out and has plenty of room for spices. The problem is where it's located. I have to walk across the kitchen to grab them and it's just not handy.

I almost bought a spice rack at Sams today, but I really don't like things on my counters and this was a counter rack. I have seen some magnet types that look all nice, but I have to wonder about how strong the magnets are and if in the middle of the night some spices are going to be occasionally falling. lol

Not to sound entirely neurotic, but I don't really want one of the wire types.

Soooo tell me how all the grown up girls have their spices stored and organized? :D

LOL.... come to think of it, mine aren't so organized. They're in two, well, really, THREE places in my kitchen.

I have a wooden "spinning" spice rack, which is pretty, but I went through and cleared almost everything off of my counters a while back. So it now sits inside a cupboard to the left of my stove.

Above the stove, one side of the cabinet is filled with all the spices that I don't use often, or the bigger bottles that I use to refill the tiny ones in my pretty spice rack. They're organized on one of those tiered wire shelf spice organizers.

And, on top of the stove- that back edge above the knobs- sit many of the spices I use frequently. Things like my pepper grinder & other random things that don't fit in the spice rack. I don't really intend to keep them there, they should go in the cupboard above, but they often get put on the back of the stove "for now". ;)

Yikes, now that you've got me thinking about it, I guess mine could use some reorganizing, too!

I've wondered about those magnetic ones, too... I could hang one inside my pantry door. I'll be curious to see if anyone here actually has one.

I have a huge lazy susan in an upper corner cabinet. Love that thing & hope our next house (someday) has one.

I just have my spices in my pantry. I don't want anything else on my counter. To be honest, I only use three spices anyway. :)

I didn't use many spices at all until recently. I got on this spice kick and started to buy two bottles each grocery trip until I had a nice collection.

I was getting bored with making meals, so decided to broaden my horizons a bit.

lol i just tossed my rack. I have a cabnit over my stove which is perfect for storing spices. And I just sorted out the ones we don't use too.

I am interested in hearing if someone has a rack on their kitchen door/pantry door/ or elsewhere

I have a wooden spinning rack too, but I just brought it to the basement. I didn't want it cluttering up my counter any more.

I feel like a dunce. I forgot I actually do have a handy spot for spices. How did I forget? I forgot because I use it for junk! There's a little handy shelf (connected to my cabinets) right above next to my stove. duh! Right now it has everything from spare batteries and sea monkey food to nailclippers and stamps. Lovely. lol

Sea monkey food must lend an interesting taste to all your culinary endeavors. :P

I have a nice black metal spice rack I bought last year that has 3 shelves that hangs on my wall. Plus I have spices that I ALWAYS cook with above my stove so that they are always right there when needed.

I'm afraid to ask what a sea monkey is :)

I don't have a spice rack at the moment - I don't like things all over the counter, and I don't have the space to hang one anywhere near where it needs to be - so all my spices are in the cabniet near the stove. I would like to find a plastic lazy susan that can fit inside the cab. & put the spices on it --- but no luck yet -- :)

We have a small lazy susan type plastic thing that goes in the cabinet over the stove for most spices. The really common ones that get used all the time are on the stove - yes, I know that it's bad for them and makes them lose flavor faster, but it's convenient. DH has a few spices that he uses when he makes his famous chili and those have their own special spot in another cabinet.

I'd love to have a bigger space over the stove for everything, but I'm so short I'd have to get a stool to reach them every time I cooked :p That's why I keep the ones that I use all the time over the stove.
