Ironing

I hate ironing. I think I iron stuff maybe once a year - I'd usually rather take it to the dry cleaners and pay them or ask my mother to do it if I have something I have to iron. I think part of my dislike of ironing is that I'm terrible at it - I usually manage to iron some creases into the clothing. I will not buy clothing that I like if I can tell that it has to be ironed.

Did anyone out there actually learn how to iron? And how often do you iron?

I don't know how I learned, I just drive the iron around. Takes time to get it on the board just right before I press it but being patient is key. I only iron when I have to and that's maybe once a week. I do it while watching tv most times.

I ironed dh dress shirts about once a week, I wait till I get a weeks worth so I can do them all at once. It is not my favorite job but I do it just the same.

I hate to iron, too.

We have very few clothing items that need regular ironing. I'm a big fan of hanging things up and misting them with water to get most of the wrinkles out!

My grandma, on the other hand, loved to iron when she was able. She would iron my grandpa's boxers and handkerchiefs!! Can you imagine? :)

I learned from my mother, who taught Home-Ec in the 50's and 60's. I hate it and all-but-refuse to do it. My son, however, "discovered" it at my prissy sister's house, and then came home, scrounged around the house for change and WALKED (gasp!) to the store to buy starch and then ironed and starched all his t-shirts. This occurred when he was starting 8th grade. I'll never let him live it down ;-)

I hate to iron and only do it when I have to, as I need something or more often, as my dh needs something. I don't iron anything before hanging it in our closet. We live in a very old house and the closets are tiny so everything would get squeezed and wrinkled anyway.

I don't like to do ironing but not even hate to do so, i do that regular means everyday, whatever i have to wear, i use to iron that.
