As some of you know, my bathrooms are hideous here. They are original from the 50's. I don't foresee any remodeling plans in the near future, so I am going to "work it".

Downstairs bathroom is 50's pink and upstairs is 50's pale yellow.

I'm looking for vintage fabric for curtains and shower curtains. Then will hunt down some vintage wallpaper. Might find some nice reproductions. Michael Miller has a lot of really nice fabric reproductions.

The problem is that I really am not fond of much 50's-80's decor. I find it all pretty fugly with the exception of a few things.

I think it's much easier to go with it than it is to try and update it without spending a small fortune.

I'm going for whimsical decor downstairs. Upstairs, I can work with easier because pale yellow isn't really quite as dated as the pink. lol

On a sidenote, I'm determined to purchase a lot of secondhand pictures for my bare walls here. I bought 11 last week at the thrift store.

I bought 4 Burwood wall hangings. Anyone remember them from the 70's? lol

Oh Sara...I may have you beat. I'll have to take pictures of the bathrooms and post them. My master bathroom is bright orange and wood paneling. My downstairs bathroom, which we had redone when we moved in, is this icky apricot color. It looked so cute in the store, but on the walls...not so much. I need to pick a new color and repaint. We actually stopped painting and so the bathroom is half painted. So pathetic.

Oh dear, Sara, I feel for you with the pink bathroom. I agree, much easier to 'work with them' than a major re-do.

How about gray to go with pink? Or you can go dramatic and use black. If you go with black how about take pics of the children in silouette (sp) and black them out then use the frames from the pics you got thrifting? Hope that made sense. LOL

Oh Amy, ORANGE? Yikes! I know you can paint paneling but don't remember if you have to do anything to it first so it accepts the paint???

Good luck ladies. :)

I just bought a house that had paneling in the kitchen and dining rooms. I had to primer them a few times first before I painted them but they turned out very well.

Michael Miller *does* have some nice repro fabrics. If you decide to buy some of his fabric, I can point you in the direction of a coop.

Can also try www.repodepot.com :)
