The "company coming" thread reminded me of a friend of my son's who had a hurtful experience over the holiday. He had a friend from high school who came to visit for nearly 3 weeks, who did not spend any time directly with him other than getting ready to go in the morning and going to bed at night. The visitor basically used his friend's house as a free place to stay, but forgot to treat his friend as a friend. He made plans with many other people for lunches, dinners, hikes, games, movies, etc. but totally ignored his host, or at best said "We're doing X if you want to come along" - hardly a gracious invitation. The host was very hurt, because they had been almost inseparable friends growing up.
Has anyone heard of people behaving like this?

How rude! Some people are hiding behind the door when manners are being passed out I guess. Did your son talk to him about this? I guess he could give the guy another chance after talking to him or just figure it's time to move on and just remember the good memories. It is too bad.

My DS did not broach the topic with his rude friend, but did make an extra effort to befriend the poor host.

That's a sad story. :( Some people simply have no manners. Common decency be darned, they just do what they want when they want.

I like the saying my cousin says" Friends and family are like seasons- some stay for awhile, some pass, some come back every year., its how u see those seasons and enjoy them or recieve them that make the season."
