I have become totally addicted to two new television shows on TLC. One is called Moving Up and the other is called Flip That House. I'm not sure that this goes under the decorating forum, but it's a close enough fit.

On Moving Up, they follow three families who sell their homes to each other and then see how they redo the house and then the old people come back through and see their old house in the new way.

On Flip That House, people purchase homes, fix them up, then try to resell them for a profit.

I just love watching what these people do with the homes and the reactions to the changes, and I love to see on Flip That House whether or not the people are able to sell the homes.

Both shows are very inspiring to me because I just love to imagine what I could do with my house if I had the cash. :)

I use to be addicted to How clean is your house on the womens channel, not that my house look like theres lol but I loved the ideas they gave and always made me feel right after dinner to get my booty in gear lol

I watch HGTV all the time (unless it's a backyard/garden show... no yard) at one point it was the ONLY thing that was on my tv... DF was searching for a meeting for me.... My name is V... and I am a HGTV-aholic)

I really enjoy Decorating Cents and Design Remix... On the first one, they redecorate for only 500.00 and on the other one they use stuff from around the house to redecorate.. The second one is great because they reuse things from around the house, and not going out and buying all new....

I watch a lot of do-it-yourself decorating shows as well. I watch them mostly for entertainment value. I think a lot of the re-dos they do are awful and a waste of time and energy....especially the super budget ones where they start making silly crafts like lampshades out of colanders. I'm of the mind that you should do something right the first time. So....at my house we save up and buy quality pieces of furniture, good quality paint, and don't spend money on nick nacks. I really like the organizing shows. They inspire me to de-clutter. I think the absense of clutter is the BEST decorating style out there. ;) Dh gets angry at some of the shows sometimes because he says they are taking short-cuts with construction/red-do and ruining people's houses. His favorite was when Hildy from Trading Spaces used newspaper under linoleum to level out the floor. Gasp! I kinda understand his disdain for that one.
