Laundry smell

I love putting on clothes that smell fresh from fabric softener. I have never been able to get my clothes to smell like that though. No matter what brand of detergent or fabric softener I use, there is no odor at all after the clothes are dried. The clothes smell great after washing, but after drying...nothing. This summer I was at the beach and bought a brand of detergent I had never used before that had fabric softener in it. I used it all week at the beach and my clothes smelled so good even after sitting in a drawer for several days after being washed. I bought the same detertent when I got home and I had the same problem as before...no smell at all. My dryer is gas. Does it have something to do with a gas dryer?

Interesting. I don't think it would be the gas dryer though. Do you use dryer sheets in the same scent? They might help.

Might have to do with the humidity level. I live in a very dry area, and evne flowers lose their smell very quickly. If I humidify my house, things smell longer (and I mean the things with DESIRABLE smells, not things like the catbox!)

Could it be the soft/hard water issue.

We have hard water here.
