We will be moving to Florida at the end of this month, and I'm having a problem keeping everything organized. My dh will be making three trips with our stuff, all a month apart. The problem is dd and I will be going May 26th, so we have to pick what we will be needing first, etc. I guess I never realized how much stuff I use on a day-to-day basis. How do I organize it, so that I don't forget something we really need? This is the first time I have ever moved, so any advice would be helpful!

I hope this makes sense!

Well there are some basic things you need:

Kitchen: pots and pans. Things to cook with. You can buy paper plates, cups, napkins, silverware, but you still need pots and pans and spatulas. Microwave and toaster would be a priorty for me. Blender, glasses, dishes can come next trip.

Bathroom: You need towels and washcloths.

Bedroom: You need sheets, blankets, pillows, ect

Clothes: Take all the summer stuff (you are moving to Flordia right?) and leave the snowsuits, boots, ect for the next trip

Next - pack up everything!!close the tops of the boxes of things you don't need, and for the stuff you use everyday, put in boxes and just don't close the lid. You have 2 weeks yet, so see what you use everyday. See if there is anything you go digging back into the "closed" boxes for. The open ones are the boxes you take the first trip.

I have moved a million times in my life - I love it. To go to a new house and unpack, find new places for everything, get rid of so much junk, I love it.

Good luck on your move!!

Thanks! The move is postponed until June 13th. That gives me a little extra time! :)
