Do you use place mats?

<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I used to always have place mats on my table. I had vinyl place mats and placed fabric place mats on top of the vinyl. I would then remove the fabric ones at mealtime and leave the vinyl to set plates on.

Then the kids came along. I used vinyl exclusively for us and if company came over, I'd quick put the cloth place mats on the table to dress up the dining room a bit. I would leave them out all the time, but I was constantly picking them up off the floor. The kids would play and they'd fall off the table. ugh

So now there are no place mats. LOL The table has taken a severe beating. The cloth place mats still come out whenever someone is going to visit.

I dream of a place mat table again someday. LOL

I must sound like my kids are animals, but truthfully it's just life is very full. I don't have time to do all the rinky dinkying around that I used to.

Our table took a serious beating when the kids were small (water marks everywhere), and now I need to completely cover it all the time. I use a flannel backed vinyl pad and then a tablecloth over it. I wish I didn't have to because it really is a PITB, but I don't want it getting any more destroyed.

I use placemats all the time, ok most the time when the granddaughters leave them alone, but for meals they are on the table..
I happen to love placemats...odd since we never used them growing up.
