I have to chuckle over this because we all know each other but it'll be fun to re-introduce ourselves.
I'm cj and one of my favorite topics is homekeeping. I've been doing it for years and I don't think there is ever a day I don't learn something new. I also have a passion for quilting and I'm now enjoying crocheting (thanks Dee). In the summer, my passion is gardening.
Along with 6 kids I have 8 grandchildren. We also have a dog named Kyla and a cat named Sassie.

I'm Kim, live on the east FL coast, have one ds whom I homeschool, have 3 Australian Shepherds, and one cat. I enjoy baking, quilting, cross stitch, gardening, and I'm passionate about organics and natural living.
Next...........
I'm Dee (lol actually used my name!). My hubby and I live in upstate NY with our 13 furbabies. :D
I love sewing and crocheting (yw CJ ;) ) the best, but I also knit, cross stitch and do other crafts at times. My passion is making clothing and home decor items so this new forum is perfect for me! :D

Pat here,
I live on a farm in VA with my significant other and dd who turns 12 this summer. We have dogs, cats and goats - plus all the wild things running loose around our place. I like to garden, sew, read, make crafts and knit using a loom. Looking forward to spring/summer and spending all the time I can outdoors.

I'm Amy and I live in New Jersey. I'm an 8th grade Social Studies teacher with a dh, a dd who is 4 and a ds who is 1. I also teach piano lessons and tutor after school.
My free time is spent with my children. I enjoy them more than you could possibly imagine. When they are sleeping or otherwise occupied, I enjoy the following:
I love to organize, especially when it's other people's stuff. I had dreamed of becoming a professional organizer, but there was always one thing or another that held me back from pursuing it.
I also love to read and write. I'm currently working on a novel that I started when I was on maternity leave with dd, 4 years ago. I spent some time away from it, but now I'm back and am hoping to have it finished and shopped around a bit before the end of the year.
Dh and I just moved into this house (our 3rd home) last August and are constantly doing some sort of improvement project. It's a fixer-upper, to be sure, and we plan on staying here for...well...forever, so we have time, but I'm starting to get anxious about certain rooms not having paint on the walls yet, etc. I will definitely be picking brains here for help and inspiration!

Hi everyone, my name is Rhonda and I live in Australia.
I live a wonderful life in semi-rural Queensland with my DH and one of my two sons. My step-son and DIL live in the same town. We have two Airedale Terriers, one white cat, chickens and a few fish.
I've recently retired from a long career of writing for a living and now I'm discovering my home. I'm learning all sorts of new homemaking skills and have come to realise what I thought was boring and time consuming in the home is actually interesting and fulfilling.
My DIL is a craft teacher so, with her help, I've been learning to sew and embroider. That is my main interest at the moment but I also read everyday and I'm still a passionate gardner. My main aim in the garden is to organiscally grow all our own vegetables and a lot of our fruit. :)

Hi I'm Carolyn and I live in Nevada and I'm 49. I've been married for almost 30 years and have a son who will soon be 19. We live about 70 miles from Las Vegas. I've also lived in Germany, Missouri, and North Carolina.
I love to sew and my passion has become quilting. I am also learning to crochet. I love making my own gifts for family and friends.
We have 2 dogs (1 very old and one very young). Dh is an electrician and I am disabled and ds is still in search of his calling.

Hi friends, I'm Robin. My life is always busy, but I must admit that I would not change it even if I could. I am working on my credential to work with the blind, I am so excited about how my life and career have taken off and changed directions, it's an amazing thing what a woman can get done when she puts her heart into something!
I live in a 100 year old house that I grew up in. Although my busy life including 2 jobs and school keep me more than busy, I cherish this home and love to make her more comfortable and inviting!
I am getting ready to paint soon, I am looking for a sale or something for the paint then I will just paint here and there and before I know it, it will be fresh and clean again!

Hi everyone!
It's me, Chriss :D It's great to meet everyone all over again! I'm married with 3 teenagers and have been a sahm for most of the last 18 years. I supplement DH's income by teaching knitting, crochet and saxophone and I'm working on a part-time business designing my own patterns for knitting and crocheting. DH drives a bus for our local public transportation service. I love that I have been able to focus so much on creating and maintaining a home for our family.

Hello, I'm new here as well as to Frugal Village and Homestead Garden, but I really love it! Thank you for inviting me to come check everything out.
I am a SAHM to four - 2 girls, 2 boys - 10, 8, 6, & 4. We live in Illinois in a mid-size town. I grew up in the country and miss many things about it. However, I love my home and am constantly working on some part of it. We have an older, 2-story home that we are trying to fix up. On a budget, no less! ;) We also have 2 indoor cats.
My interests are my family, homekeeping, gardening, reading, sewing, cookbooks, and garage-saling. I would love to learn how to crochet. I know the chain stitch and that is it!
At times, I am lonely to find others with my interests and way of thinking, so I am so thrilled to have found these sites. I look forward to getting to know you.
Elizabeth
Hi everyone! In case you haven't figured it out I'm Strawberry from FV.
I've been married for almost 23 years and we have 3 children ages 21, 18, & 16. I'm a homeschooling mom for only another month and I'll be finished after 15 years of teaching my children. My life will change and I'm not sure what I'll do with myself; maybe I'll learn to quilt :D
I love to spend time with my family, cross stitch, read, batch cooking, and baking.

Hi everyone! :)
My name is Heather and I live on the edge of a small village on 8 acres with my DH and three children. My two boys are 15 and 16 and my daughter is 8 years old. DH and I have been married for almost 18 years.
My DH is a long distance truck driver. He owns his own truck and brokers for a company hauling auto parts to the States. He is gone part of the week and I miss him so much...more so as I'm getting older and the kids are growing up.
I love to garden, quilt, sew, scrapbook (not as much as I like though, special projects get done) and making our home a haven for us all.
We have a new venture and are going to sell our produce this year. I am very excited about it and so is Doug (DH). We have had large gardens in the past and can/freeze much of it and give lots away. It's something I've always wanted to do and figured why not? Doug is making me a stand and everything. We grow lots of different veggies, strawberries, raspberries and have put in over an acre of sweet corn.
Oh, forgot to mention, I'm a SAHM and I homeschool my 15 year old son.

Hi ladies,
I'm a newbie to FV and was invited over here. This place look nice and cozy :)
My name is Angela, 27 year old mom of 2 boys. Adam is 6 and Corey is 3. I work outside the home in a photolab and my dh is an ex-truck driver who now works as a truck mechanic and dispatcher (which he hates  ).
I love to organize, especially when it's other people's stuff.
You sound like me Amy. I'm a major neat freak and things have to be organized! Let's see...I like journal writing, photography, making blinkies, reading, playing The Sims, collecting recipes and trying new dishes, thinking of new ways to be frugal, collecting emoticons, and I'm sure many more things that I can't think of right now.
It's been nice reading about all of you.
Welcome ladies, it's great to have you here! :)

My name is Karen. I chose the same user name here as at Frugal village because I hate thinking up usernames! I'm one of the youngest members I think and I truly appreciate all of you that I've "met" in the last few weeks. I stay at home with 2 of the most beautiful girls on this earth, Isabel 3, & Ingrid 7 months. I teach piano lessons when I can to make some extra money but also because I love music. I am our church pianist and I usually have music playing constantly. I tend to be shy in person, I love reading, I'm a part-time college student, & I'm teaching myself to cook. That ought to cover it for now :D

Hi,
Jerrie k here. Thank you so much for inviting me in :) I have loved getting to know everyone at FV.
I am 52 and a sahm. I homeschool my dd who is just finishing up her junior yr. She has just started beauty school and plans on finishing up both beauty school and senior yr. Feb. 2006. Her boyfriend is in Canada and she plans on moving there when she graduates.
I have one dss age 14. We enjoy the time we get to spend with him. He is in junior high and into socccer.
Dh works his reg. job and has a lawn mowing business in the summer so I can stay home.
I love everything about being a homemaker. It's what I wanted to be from as far back as I can remember. Everything I did as a child revolved around dolls and playing house.
Love reading, esp books on homemaking, gardening, scrapbooking, and I am just learning to crochet.

Hello to all,
I'm Jean and I live on some acreage (not exactly a farm) outside a smallish town in Southwest Missouri. We have lived on this place for almost 15 years. I have my husband of 27+ years, and 12 year old twins (girl & boy) who were a BIG surprise after years of weird infertility. We have a Corgi dog Sassy, an old white cat Sugar, and 5 month old kitten Snickers. Also an African Albino Frog -- not a cuddly critter, but he makes my son happy. We had a hedgehog for a while, but he died last spring.
I love gardening, buying second hand (antiques, flea markets, rummage sales, etc), reading, and am totally hooked on these forums (FV, HG and now this one!)
I have worked as a secretary for 21 years at the same company that has its corporate headquarters in this little town.
Many many thanks for the invite to join this forum!

Hi:) My name is Heather and I live in Nebraska, with my DH and 5 kids, 3 cats, and 1 dog. I found my way to this forum via an email invite:) This looks like so much fun!
We are originally from Northern California, we moved to Nebraska in September 2001. In case anyone is wondering, YES we were traveling out this way on 9/11 and it wasn't too fun. I was on the TRAIN! But anyway, we have been here for almost 4 years now, and we are enjoying it so far.
I look for every possible way to save money, because we are hoping to buy a house in the early spring of next year:) That is my biggest hobby. I also like scrapbooking, church activities, flower gardening, cooking, and music. I am an American Idol addict, although I'm not crazy about how the show has gone this year. I dabble in eBay from time to time...and a bit in Melaleuca too. Our kids have lots of activities so I am ALWAYS busy!
Nice to meet all of you! :)

MY name is Kimberly, and I am the 30 yo mostly SAHM (work 3 5-hour nights a week for insurance) to my just yesterday 2 yo DD. I have been married to DH almost 8 years, and we live in upstate NY.
I love gardening, learning, reading, and travelling (to warm places only!) and playing with my daughter. I am terribly fascinated by archaeology and forensic anthro, and have taken some classes and worked on some local digs. I also love looking at beautiful architecture, particularly Victorian, which is why I bought my folk Victorian home. (Unfortunately, it doesn't have a ton of original architecture left, but it was what we could afford.)
Anyway, that is me. Oh, and I have panic disorder that I am trying to work my way through for the second time. Getting in cars in the morning is a huge problm (which makes the travelling a little more difficult.)

Welcome Kimberly.
My dd is almost 15 and has been interested in archeology since she was about 5 and in fact wants to be one. She absolutely loves reading about it and wants to go on a local dig here this summer. There is an area about 15 minutes from us where archeologists dig every summer. She is also into hieroglyphics. I find it amazing that one her age is so interested in this stuff.
What type of digs did you go on and did you find anything of interest?

Hi, Kimberly!
I've studied archaeology also (University of Arkansas). We were members of the ARk. archaeological survey for awhile in the 70s. My brother is part of the Dallas Paleontological Society now (he is a main writer for their newsletter and also arranges displays in a big museum there).
I also love hieroglyphs, hieratic, Egyptian culture and other ancient civilizations.
Do you penpal?

Once an RN ( Pre Car Accident) Trained in Interior Design, which was and is my Hobby and passion :D
I can't Sew worth a lick, but I am very Creative when it comes to Decorative Flourishes & Colour schemes etc. I am also very good at finding space where there was none before :) ......this comes from necessity as we live in a little house!
Being a strict Veggie I love to create new and exciting meat free meals.
I am allergic to reading instructions ;) and rely on my instincts!
This translates into being a bit useless with the Computer ( technology wise) so I rely on DH to help out with the Posting of pics and such!

I'm Amy, happily married and the mother of a two year-old DD.
I work part-time as the Activity Director in a nursing home, and stay home the rest of the week with my DD.
I enjoy cooking, scrapbooking, crafts of any kind, and antiques. I'm just starting to get into making cards. Right now you'll find ideas and supplies for card making scattered about my house as I try to make graduation cards and yet keep the supplies out of the hands of a very active toddler. :)
My passion, other than my daughter, is volunteering for ChemoAngels. We adopt cancer patients and support them through the mail throughout their treatments.
I'm looking forward to having this new forum to hang out in!

I love to read just about anything and play with the boys. I have been a SAHM since Brady was born.
I hope to get to know everyone soon :D

Hi, I'm Sara - just received my invite from CJ at FV and figured I'd start with my introduction. I'm 27 years old, married to Ian (DH) for almost 2 years now (ok, 2 on 8/31/05). We live in Worcester, MA - we both grew up around here. We have three cats at the moment and rent an apartment. We are hoping within the next 2 years to actually buy a house and we're hoping to start a family sometime next year. Actually, both of these things are fairly dependent on when DH starts working again - he has been out of a job for 7 months now. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from FV since I still consider myself newly married (and thus a new homemaker). We're considering the idea of me being a SAHM in the future, but for now I really enjoy working (although I hate my boss). I really enjoy hearing about how other women are SAHMs, working Moms, wives - and making it all work in their own ways! I feel like I have plenty of role models to look up to!
My hobbies are gardening (in containers on our deck) reading (especially science and other non-fiction books), Flylady, cooking, money (including investing and the stock market) and science fiction. I've always wanted to take up a crafting hobby (sewing, quilting, something like that) but haven't yet.

Hi everyone! My name is Betsy. I am an old-timer from FV who has been away for a while. Mainly due to the fact that I have been chasing my daughter around the house lately! I am 30 and a mother of one daughter who will be 2 in August. My hubby and I just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, but we've been together for over 11 years now.
I work part-time outside of the home while my in-laws watch my daughter. It is great! I am home 4 days a week and work 3 days a week for about 6-7 hours each day. I feel like a SAHM who dabbles in working! LOL
I am at the same company/job that I had before I had a baby. My employer has been so good to me about being pregnant, maternity leave, and only wanting to come back part-time. I am very thankful.
My DH and I currently need to start saving $$ to buy a house. In Southern California, the house prices are crazy right now. But we are hoping to get into a starter home soon.
Hi Betsy! Long time no see, welcome back! :D
Your daughter is adorable! :)

Gosh it's nice to see some familiar faces that I haven't seen in a while. I love reading the intro's too b/c even though we mostly know each other, we never really know all there is to know. ;)
I'm Lisa, married to Gripey (a.k.a. Barry) for 29 yrs in June of this year. We live in my hometown in Texas in the house that I grew up in. We've raised our precious kids here and they've all moved on to make their own way now. We have 2 dd's and 1 ds and a ddil. They are all wonderful people. We're so proud of them.
I love being a SAHW, doing the things that keep my home running and our lives fairly calm. I enjoy swimming, music, garage sales, home decor, reading, movies, spending time with family and friends, my poodle, travel, computer time. I've had so much fun at FV and really looking forward to growing with this "home" as well.

Hello everyone...I'm new, just joined today. I 've read through some threads and have found folks here who share my love of home-keeping...this seems to be a great forum :)
Just a bit about introductions: I have a 10 year old daughter and a DH and live in a very wonderful (except in deep summer (LOL)) part of the world, Tucson AZ. I love to read, write and vacuum (ha!), as I have mostly wood floors.
I became a stay-at-home-mom in November, last year, and have enjoyed it immensely. I hope to visit this site as often as I can...
***HOME SWEET HOME***
P.S. I adore thrift shops, cats, organizing and long walks. :D
I despise clutter and long lines at the grocery.

Hi there, I'm Nancy (DawnM from FV), a long-time mostly reader, sometimes poster. I just turned 48. We have two children. Our oldest (almost 23) son just graduated from university and is embarking on a career... but still living with us until he gets established. We also have a 21 year old DD with developmental disabilities ... she's my homemaker-crafting buddy.
My sweetie DH and I will be married 29 years this November and we are Canadians (Ontario) who were transferred here to the East Coast of the US...we're in our 9th year here. We were "home" last weekend and I still get homesick and shed a few tears when I have to leave (especially my mom), but this is home now. We will be moving when we retire but haven't decided where yet, but we will be staying in the US as that's where my son will settle and we all want to stay close by.
We have two "girls" - Fergie and Di (Scottish Terrior and blonde American Cocker) who are getting to be old girls, 12 and 13, and we love them to bits.

Hello.
WOW!! You all sound like a wonderful bunch.
I am a 37 year old widow. Mother of 3 pretty terrific kiddos. DD - 18 and DS's 14 and 10.
I am just now relocating to my (nearly) dream place in Colorado. A little farmstead built in 1910. With a house, garage, barns and corrals. (no pasture land...resulting in the nearly) It is surrounded completely by wheat fields and the nearest neighbor is about 5 miles away.
This summer I will be working on the barn and corrals to prepare them for livestock next spring.
Any help with ideas for stocking up food supplies for the winter are greatly welcomed. I don't want to have to make a million trips to the little town or the big one 50+ miles away to get groceries. (I think that is my ONLY worry to tell you the truth)
I was raised in SE Wyoming and want to be close to my parents. But, not too close...if you know what I mean.
I homeschool my 2 DS's. It is such a joy to see them relax and learn at the same time.
I enjoy horses, crocheting, reading, and spending time outdoors.
I am planning on going back to school - long distance from home - to get my degree in AG Management with my Major in Equine (horses).
I also want to take up photography as a hobby. The beauty of the new place should lend to some wonderful pictures.
All of us have decided to put some "music" in our lives and will be learning guitar and piano as soon as we get snuggled in this next winter.
I hope to hear more wonderful ideas and get to know many of you in the future.

Hi. Obviously late, but I'm a newby. Just wanted to say "Hi" and introduce myself. I'm a New Mexican (sometimes Texan or Arizonan), single person household with two indoor cats, computer systems administrator, choir member, mother of a UT (longhorn) sophomore. I am a very social person with a very inactive social life recently, due to being a) very busy, b) divorced and NOT looking, c) cold sober, d) all of the above. Most people in the community are very family oriented, and my family is not here. I have a broad group of friends roughly 30 - 50 years older than I am who would love to socialize while I am at work, and for several years had a job that accomodated their earlier schedules but do not have the same job. Luckily, I'm tired by the time I get off work, and go home and pet the cats and read/play sudoku/watch a movie and go to bed. Still the need for social interaction is unmet - so I'm checking out this group. Sounds fun and diverse. Sorry this got so long. I'll be briefer in the future.

Hi everyone, my name is Nita from LA. I've taken up interest in interior design since I was little (had a large dollhouse that I "decorated" XD). It's good to be here.

Well, from the title, you might assume that I actually just sort of wandered into here by accident (well, once I found myself in here, I decided to stay to see what it was all about). I was actually looking for Budget 101 Forum:babydust:So, I think this will be a great place as I love home decor, stenciling in my kitchen, fixing up my bathrooms, etc. Thanks for the welcome.:cheergirl:

This great, but how about you all copy and paste your stories, in the "Introduce Yourself" folder, in the Off Topic section of this forum.
If you each start your own thread with your story, then we can talk to each of you individually, without having a thread that runs on forever.
.
I've looked and looked, but I can't seem to find the Off Topic section of the forum, so this will have to do!
Hi, I'm Zen! :wavebye: I live in the sunny Okanagan area of BC, Canada. I've been married for the past 2 and 1/2 years to the love of my life, and have three children: 20yr old Meaghan, 18yr old Kimmy and 16yr old Jake. Kimmy's also made me a grandmother this year (at the ripe old age of 43! lol) Her name is Abby, she's currently 2 and 1/2 months old :bgirl: and I love her to pieces!
I love listening to music :music: and while I am not a neat freak like my husband, I have an aversion to clutter and chaos and am constantly trying to improve myself and my habits. I do seem to be allergic to schedules and lists, but I am trying to work on that as well! :otay:
Since quitting smoking over a year and a half ago, my husband and I have been trying to eat healthier and eliminate toxins from our lives and our bodies. To that end, we've stopped eating out, changed to non-toxic cleaning supplies and have started once a month cooking. When all the kids finally move out, hubby and I plan on moving to Alberta, building a rammed earth dwelling, powering it with solar and wind power, and growing all our produce aquaponically! I'm perfectly happy with "less is more" and feel that stuff simply begets more stuff, which is a drain on our finances monetarily and emotionally.
This looks like a great little community and I look forward to learning a lot!

New here! Well I've been here for a while but finally getting back to the message boards. I look forward to sharing ideas and meeting like minded friends! One thing I'd like to know.. is everyone ready for Christmas? I am so behind. With the kids grown and out of the house I've found myself getting lazier about putting up the tree and decorating. Things will change this next year.. we're expecting our 1st grand baby!
A little about myself: I work with computers, love to garden and have three Aerogardens. We have several pets (2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 parrot). Currently we're in the middle of a remodel...pulled out all the carpets this summer and putting wood flooring back down in January.
Well time to run! I look forward to chatting later!
