View Full Version : brought my christmas cactus upstairs
I had two large christmas cactus downstairs under lights. They weren't doing very well. Then I noticed my husband turned the plant lights off! Who knows how many days these plants were without light. grrr. Anyway, so I brought them back upstairs and even without light for a few days they look better than they did when I first took them down to the sick bay. LOL
I hope they can thrive again, but with Christmas coming up and not even a bud, I don't think I'm going to see blooms this year. It's so sad. They're one of my favorite blooming plants.
They're currently sitting on my kitchen counter and taking up way too much space. I need to move them back into the living room.
Normal people would just replace them. Not me. I can't give up on these guys. They're not in terrible shape. Just not in perfect condition for blooming.

I need to check ours out. It's currently sitting on top of my pantry and getting plenty of light, so it should be okay.
LOL about "sick bay"

This one is a beauty. She said it's 42 years old. I need better lighting or mine will never be as happy. LOL
Gabe bought me a huge hanging one 9 years ago, but I had to leave it in NY when we moved. :( I abolutely love them. Mine are hot pink. I really love the white and coral.
Love love love plants. This is one of my favorites. Enjoy your blooms Darlene. :D

Glad you posted the picture...I was imagining a cactus like you see in the desert...you know the one I mean...with the two arms up in the air, one a little higher than the other...anyway, that one with Christmas lights hanging on it. Wow...I am SO not knowledgeable about plants.
The other day I hear mommmmmmyyyy come here quick. A plant was knocked over! I went into the living room and sure enough a pile of dirt on the carpet and a terrible botanical casualty. LOL Yes, it was one of the Christmas cactus. These poor plants can't catch a break. I snipped some parts and am rooting a few just in case. LOL Start over from a tiny little root cutting.

I love them however I haven't seen any anywhere this year. Wonder what that's all about.
Sara, they will probably bloom (other than the one that fell), however late.

Oh no Sara. A botanical tragedy indeed.
I actually have never paid much attention to my Christmas cactus. I need to read up on them because for some reason I don't remember this on ever blooming. Hmmm...
