Who works with a budget?

Or do you hate that word. We work strictly with a budget and even though I don't like to do budgets, I've found we keep way better track of where our money is going. We don't have any debt, yet our income is fixed and below poverty level (according to the Canadian government) so we need to watch our pennies.

How do you do it? Do you do a monthly budget, yearly budget or?
