How do you fold socks?

I was raised folding them where the pair are put together and then tucked into a little "sock pocket" and then as I got older I started just rolling the tops together. Now I just roll them. (toe up) With the kids socks, I still make little sock pockets though. They are small and a pain if not kept together.

I grew up with them being rolled and tucked in too, but for many years I just folded half or thirds, now I am back to rolling my athletic socks. :)

Let me just state for the record how much I HATE socks. Now I normally don't use that word (hate) but it is appropriate in this situation. We have 7 pairs of feet in this home. That is 14 socks each day. I swear they gang up on me and there is some kind of conspiracy!

Now to answer the question, I fold the tops together- when I can find matching socks :rolleyes:

I put together and roll the tops down to get that little "cuffed" look that they have when coming in packages. I'm beginning to learn the error of my ways, though, because it's broken the elastic in quite a few and stretched the tops out a lot. DH made this point to me years ago and made sure I just put his socks together and folded in half. I think I may end up doing the same as I'd heard once... Buy about 2 packs of the exact same sock and just toss them all in a drawer, they always will match, no rolling to wear out the elastic, and no trouble finding pairs!

My niece used to joke that unmatched socks were the larval form of clothes hangers, but she apparently was one that had too many hangers. I don't take many clothes to the cleaners so we don't get a lot of hangers.

As for folding socks, I fold/roll the top of one over the top of the other.
