Do you look for a good price, for quality, for a good warranty or do you go for whats in style because you'll be changing it in a couple years?

We go for the antique look, prefer the real thing but will settle for good reproductions. We want furniture that will last forever, very sturdy. We are not ones to change furniture unless it's completely worn out.

We look for price, obviously, but we also look for sturdiness and durability. We don't like the delicate, elegant look. We love solid wood furniture. If it's a piece of furniture with a fabric, we like a country design, like a plaid, but not too checkery and nothing with livestock on it!

We are NOT into contemporary pieces at all.

I have 2 girls who are rough on furniture. My older DD was a toddler when we moved into this house in June of 2000, my younger was only 3 weeks old. Brandi spent a lot of her toddler-hood destroying furniture and writing on walls, then her sister took over.

We have had 2 couches and a love seat gotten free from my parents (they and a big dog we had destroyed them), a couch with hide a bed that came from my brother's house and was my grandmas. Then we had a curved sectional purchased for $150 at a yard sale. It was very nice, but destroyed in less than a year. Then I bought a nice bamboo set (couch, love seat, chair) for $250 at a used shop and another matching bamboo rocker for $25. The couch and chair cushions are already destroyed (took about a year) and we have pillows and quilt on the chair to use it.

We only have 2 small dogs now, but they have added a small amount to the damage.

I'd love to have a nice furniture set, but that is out of the question for now. I'm hoping the girls mature really soon (though the older one is getting better).

nothing with livestock on it! - amy that cracks me up. :p

When we bought furniture last time (4 years ago) it was cheap since we couldnt afford anything else. It is black leather, which has held up well. We decided when we move next (in a year or 2) we will buy new furniture. But that's also when we will be starting to have children, so I think we will still go with something inexpensive. Althought I love leather, this was his idea, so next time I get to pick, and I know I will pick something fabric.

Buying....furniture....hmmm. Well, we haven't bought anything except the bunk beds since I was pregnant with DD#1 7 years ago! At this point I would take anything that wasn't it a box that says "Some assembly required" on the outside!

A little bit of everything....lol

Coming from a large furniture industry county (where my mom works now, which is where I worked in HS, we had sofas on the price is right and Regis and his wife's picture are hanging in the main lobby) I look at the co. name and call my mom or dad to see if they know any details on the company.

The sectional we bought in TN after moving here, was made in my hometown so after calling mom and dad and getting their thoughts on the company we bought it.
