I love thrift stores. I've found so many wonderful things. We are very fortunate in that we have several thrift stores within about a 30 mile radius. I only wish they had a better variety of household items.

Firm believer in thrift store shopping. I find wonderful things that I could have never paid full price for.

I am fairly new to thrift store shopping, but I too wish we had a better selection around here.

I love thrift store shopping. Find tons of goodies there. I enjoy going not only for the deals, but for the treasure hunt factor. :D

I love it and I go as often as I can. Sometimes I'll find great buys other times I come up with nothing. Same with yard sales.

I love thrift store shopping. I just wish all of them weren't located so far away from me.

I love thrift stores, too. We have one big one in our town -- the Salvation Army store. There is one other that is very small and crowded and smells of a gas leak, so I rarely go there.

I don't go as often as I used to because I've been trying to cut back on my noon-hour galivanting.

Yes, I definitely use the yard/garage sales and thrift stores. I couldn't afford kids if I didn't.

But I also have a lot of acquaintences with kids and piles of clothes to sell cheap or give me. So we are really overrun with clothes. Between them, my girls have 3 dressers full, a trunk, a closet.

I like the thrift stores, but the one here in town isn't too great-- I often leave empty-handed. There's one about half an hour away, though, that's great for clothes.

Sometimes. Our Goodwill store is near the expensive part of time and overpriced I think. In addition, it irks me that they put the plus size clothes and the maternity stuff together! LOL!

I just started going to the Habitat for Humanity general store and have found some nice things. They don't sell clothes though. But, we have a TON of kids consignment sales around here.

Love Thrift stores here too :D

We have St. Vincent's, Salvation Army and Goodwill around here. Goodwill use to be very affordable IMO now that they built a super huge store their prices have went up. Salvation Army is OK.......the best however is St. Vincent's. Most clothing is $1.....can't beat that!!! :eek:

I love thrift stores. I don't go often. Will only go when passing by. In February I found a beautiful little sewing machine, A japanese clone of a Featherweight. Has Cinderella across the front. The base is 5"x7". So it's really small and it works....Icleaned it's working parts, threaded her and off she went.

I'll try to include a pic.
Peace, Joanna

a few weeks ago i finally made it down to teh DAV thrift store. glad i did. they have much better prices than the other thrift stores in town and they have a good varity.they also mark stuff down if it doesn't sell. i got ds some shorts last week and went to check again this week and they marked down some stuff since then. a lot of it is less the $3.00 and most of what i have found for the kids has been 96 cents. i spent 15.00 last week and got ds 4 pairs of shorts,dd 1 dress,1pair of shortalls, and one shirt/shorts outfit, a 10 cent book for me for the pool, 2 shirt and overalls for my nephew. i spent a little more this week, $17.00 but i got 2 pairs of denium shortalls, 1 pair of shorts for ds, 1 pair of pants with the zip off legs for ds, 2 dresses for dd, and a puzzle to paint over the pieces and use for crafts. the deals weren't as good this week, but still better than sales at the regular store.

We have three thrift stores in my town. There is the GW and SA and another shop run by the Baptist church. The one run by the Baptist church is my favorite. It's well organized and the prices are right. Last week I found a new cookbook that regularly sold for $25. for 50 cents. All their paperbacks are 25 cents and hardbacks are 50 cents. All the clothing is under $3.00.

I love them!

In fact, I used to drag the family to thrift stores when we went for a day of shopping to the big town an hour away.

We found a few deals there -- like sterling silver Girl Scout charms, new on the card, for $0.50 apiece. I bought all they had as gifts for DD's scout friends.

Then I found the small thrift store in town. Sometimes I find nothing. And sometimes I hit the jackpot. Nothing is priced, and sometimes the volunteers seem to over-charge a bit. Sometimes they set their prices VERY low ... depends on how much they need to get rid of stuff. Once a month they have a sale 'fill a (brown paper) grocery bag for $5.'

Some examples of the deals I've found:
* Orvis sweater for me ... $0.75
* 4 embroidery hoops ... $1
* 7 yards of harlequin fabric (for a Halloween costume) ... $2.
* dress with a jacket. Feels like Travelsmith packable fabric ... $2.50
* large vases for a Girl Scout function ... $0.50 apiece
* envirocaire air filter for DH's office ... $3 (We paid around $150 for our home unit).
* kids' books ... $0.25 apiece.

Yes, I do love thrift store shopping!

I also love thrift store shopping. We have 1 thrift store and 1 "junk" store in the next bigger town near me. I love them both and have lots of things in my home that came from one or the other, including antique furnishings. I lurve to spend an hour perusing the thrift stores.
