I love, love, love Victorian. One of my biggest dreams was to someday purchase an old Victorian home and 3 years ago we did. I'm now re-decorating it in Victorian colors and style. I can't wait until I'm finished.

I do! Although my home is not victorian, it is an old vintage with built-ins and character. She ( I think of her as a girl with personality) looks so good in lace and dainty linens! I also love dainty feminine fringe and roses. I can hardly turn down a good buy in a thrift shop when they have doilies and lace! I love eggshell white and pink with a touch of shabby chic!

I love the artwork from that era. 2 years ago when we had a family reunion at my aunts home, I asked her if I could make a copy of my grandparents wedding certificate for my scrapbook. It is a lovely framed thing with a flower border etc. She has no children of her own, so she gave it to me! I have it on the wall in my hallway. The were married in 1918.

She also gave me 2 of my great-grandmother's scrapbooks. One is filled with cards she received. Lots of artwork from that era.

I love Victorian homes, particularly. We vacation in Cape May every year and I just feel so good walking through the town and seeing all the Victorian homes. I grew up in a town with lots of Victorian homes and now live in a similar town. I have an old Victorian farm house. It has been "modernized" many times over the years and lacks much of its original Victorian charm, but the bones are still here and we are ventually going to try to restore more of the Victorian feel. right now I have to settle for the Gothic peaks and bay windows giving it most of its Victorian-ness.

Kimberly, good for you to try to restore your home to its original Victorian look!

I'm not a big fan of Victorian -- at least not for my own home--- but I do like to go on homes tours of the Victorian homes in our town.

My own home is a Craftsman style from about 1900 and it too has had a lot of its Arts & Crafts/Craftsman structure removed in previous remodelings. I'm glad you are going to re-create the original look in your home!

Its always been my dream to own a "grand old lady" aka victorian home. My dh, unfortuneatly does not share this dream. He's more of a stucco on the beach kinda guy. He is letting me have my bedroom set of my dreams though. While not necessarily 'victorian" it does fit well with the style I believe.

Here is the sort of thing I want...

My neighbor has a beautiful, or at least it could be, victorian farm house. It has porches on three sides. The material used came from a very famous car/wagon maker's lumber yard. It's totally amazing!

Hey, I live in a 1860's Victorian house which I do love but a lot of work to renovate. My husband's grandparents lived in this big 4 bedroom house and we have been trying to redecorate it to his true Victorian state which takes time and money. One of the things I found is that this house has no linen closet or a bathroom closet so it's been a challenge to not only keep the house clean but to find places for things. So interesting to hear of others' comments. One of the things we bought to make the house warmer was a wood pellet furnace which is absolutely fantastic.

What a fun challenge, Cindy Mae! I think trunks were more common, and armoires of course, back in the day...
