In a heartbeat, 12 x 12 (finished). It makes for a much larger quilt and goes much faster than when making small blocks.

I generally do 13" X 13" so I get the full 1 foot squares. I use pretty color book pictures, muslin weight material and typing paper carbon sheets and fabric paint to make pretty painted ones.
I also love doing biscuit quilt stuff, but I use 4" squares (5" tops) for those.

12 x 12 hands down. I think it's because it's the size I started out making, and I just got used to it. A lot of the books/magazines that I read seem to use that size too.

Debbie can you explain how you do this? Are you using 1/2 inch seam allowances?
