Just a few colors.
I did an afghan in varigated (my first) and although I like it, I love the simple look of using white with only a couple colors. I don't know but for me crocheting is all about white.
Gheez, like quilting I'm going to have to stretch myself. See what you've done Dee? :D

I generally like things very colorful though I don't do complicated fair isle, etc. things that require constant color changes esp. on the same row.

I don't mind if they are muted colors. Never been a big fan of bright colors in my home. I'm an easy one the eyes, comfy colors fan.
I prefer one color throughout or a different color border, but I've done super colorful here for the kids. :D I made them stripes and the brightest funky colors I could find.
The yarn in my stash now is all softer colors. I want to make an afghan for the familyroom couch.

I find myself draw to variegated stuff everytime. Although I recently did a couple of afghans in solids and like them. Stripes remind me of 70's ripple afghans for some reason, so I need to break free from that mindset.
LOL CJ! :D
I like varigated yarns especially for making rugs, hides the spots and dirt better. ;)
But for an afghan, though I have made many, for myself I prefer a solid. :)

I love colours and textures. My favourite thing is to use textured stitches to make a picture on a solid colour fabric. I did a whole afghan this way. It was squares of butterflies and hearts. For me knitting and crocheting are my way of artistic expression. I can't draw or paint so my needlework becomes my canvas instead.
