I'm going out and purchasing some new towels. I've been saying it forever, but I've decided to get the best of the best. Not quite sure what the best of the best is yet, but I'm on a hunt.

I want them to be nice and soft and large enough to wrap ourselves in. The cost doesn't matter, as long as I can get the best of the best.

Hope you find them CJ and I hope they are on sale! I think you deserve good towels. They last so much longer and feel so nice on your skin. I will not buy cheapo towels.

I agree, purchasing towels you generally get what you pay for.

On that note, CJ check out JC Penny's brand. I have a few of them now for over 18 years and they are still going strong! The stitching has not come out at all and they are still thick and absorbent! :)

Dee, we don't have JC Penny here. I did find a place to purchase some but I have to wait until I go into Winnipeg. I don't even mind if they aren't on sale, has long as they are nice and thick and good quality.

Oh yes, nice thick fluffy bath sheets, that's what you need! Did you try Sears CJ, they have beautiful ones.

Heather I love the towels at Sears. Can you believe that the only Sears store in Brandon is a furniture store. I'm waiting until I get to Winnipeg. I could have gotten them at my favorite antique store called Lady of the Lake, but it burnt down.

Gheez, that gave me an idea - they have the same type store in Boissevain. Hmmmm I just might head there this weekend.

I bought all my towels from Meijer. I have had them for 4 years and they are not showing any signs of wear, plus tthey are thick and comfy to wrap up in. The only downside is they are "regular" towel size, instead of super-big-wrap-your-whole-body" sized. I have yet to find that size :(

We get earned income credit so tax return time is when we get our new home things. We got towels and bedding and wash clothes and other things this year. We needed them though.

I usually buy towels once in a while when I take my yearly trip to Pigeon Forge. I desperately need some new ones. The old ones are falling apart.

Last summer I bought the Martex Egyptian Cotton Towels from Amazon and they are the softest, fluffiest towels I have ever used. My only problem was I picked the color white - what was I thinking? Also, their definition of "bath sheet" is much smaller than that one I'm used to, but they are so soft and fluffy I use them everyday anyways.

The nicest towels feel so soft when you buy them, but WHAT THE HECK?
They are as absorbant as a plastic bag when you try to dry off with them!
They must soak new towels in gallons of fabric softener. I guess the softest towels on the shelves are the first ones purchased.
Try putting a cup of vinegar in with the machine's rinse cycle. The acids in vinegar can cut through the sizing, which is the finish that makes the fabric feel soft when you buy it. That's what makes the towels useless when you try to dry something with them!
It took 4 or 5 washings, each with a vinegar rinse until my soft new towels absorbed water like my normal towels.
Also try your machine's longest wash option to give the chemicals time to break down and get washed away.
Washing them with boiling water added can cut down on initial washings, too, but be careful with colors. If you have a front loader with a sanitize option, that it works great. If you have a top loader you can manually add boiling water from your kettle.
