How far is the closest fire hydrant to your home?

We have one right across the street. Because of that, our insurance was lowered.

Almost 2 miles away. That was one reason our insurance increased so much. *sigh* We do have a pond so that's looked on favorably in that respect because it's a source of water, but we also have to carry liability ins. on it just like a swimming pool so the benefit of it gets canceled out.

Right across the road from our house. Same thing, our insurance is lower because of it. :)

3 houses down on the corner. We finally got on city water about 6 years ago and got hydrants in the neighborhood. Before that we were tanker engine response for the fire department.

Probably several miles away. When our garage burned they had to use a tanker truck (???) that brought the water to the fire.

A nice sized pond nearby would be a good idea!
