Seems like the day is never peaceful or restful. I am finding that a lot of my friends feel that way too. The girls fight, DH yells, everyone is tense and mad about something. It never seems to be like it is on those Hallmark commercials. Maybe we are just dysfunctional.

My mother's day is never the Hallmark commercial either. Although this year for the first time, it was semi pleasant. LOL The day before I always ask if i can just hide in my room till the day is over.

No Cheryl, you aren't the only one that dreads it. Only I dread it for an entirely different reason, just reminds me of the children I couldn't have. I just grit me teeth and get through it as fast as possible.

Oh Dee - HUGS! I can so relate! We struggled with infertility for 5 years before Katie was born. All our friends seemed to get pregnant by looking at each other! There were several years that I just could not go to church on Mother's Day because I felt so sad and left out!

HUGS!

I'm with the rest of you. Mother's Day hasn't been special for me, either. I think I dread all holidays anymore because they are nothing like they were when I was a kid growing up in my family.

This was true for me too. I do my grocery shopping on Sunday mornings, and there were 3 or 4 Mother's Days when the produce man asked me if I had had a good Mothers Day so far. Rather than rant at him, I just smiled and said yes.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but I see it as a 'Hallmark Holiday.' I have low expectations of Mothers' Day -- if the kids make me cards, I'm happy.

But, to make mil's Mothers' Day a special day takes extra work for me! No wonder I don't care for it.
