I love the local libraries. They have a wealth of books.

I do sometimes find a few good books at yard sales too.

I'm a library lover too. My neighbor usually gives me a bag or two of books that she's already read once a year. She likes the same kinds of books I do & always buys the new best sellers. I've a nice library going with many of an authors books in a series.:)
She gives me books, I give her produce from the garden.:)

Our public library isn't very big. Most of the time I buy my books from Amazon.com, or from someone on FV. I like to keep all my books and refer back to them.

On the poll I voted for the library.

Ds's books and books I use with him for homeschool I get at the library, yard sales/rummage sales, and thrift stores.

Books for me and dh I get at the library, on rare occasion I'll find something at a yard sale or the thrift store, and we buy books for each other at Christmas (usually buy those at Sam's or the Christian store).

I think the public libraries are the best thing since sliced bread. Whether small or large, there is just so many books. And most of them will do inter-library loan. We also have open shelf here because at present there is no library here although we are working on getting one. With open shelf, I go on the computer and list the books I want. They come in the mail within 3-4 days, no charge. Its wonderful!!

I voted library too. I wish we could get them in the mail too :)

I do find good ones at yard sales and church rummages but not on a regular basis.

I put at yard sales though that isn't completely true (just didn't see a better choice).

I get them at library book sales, used book shops, yard sales, sometimes ebay, sometimes new at book stores. I mostly have craft, garden, women's mags or books plus Bibles, references, etc.

I have a small library of my own, but my dad (a former preacher and currently a college professor) has over 80,000 volumes (they fall to me when he passes).

I'll have to say "other" I purchase romance novels at goodwill for .50 and kids books for .25. For new releases, I check my bookclub that is currently offering free shipping, then on to half.com, amazon, and ebay respectively. My library doesn't offer many books, and I found some of the books I'd been trying to find there but weren't in the card catalog were on a shelf for sale there!! I won't donate books to them like that, because not only do they not have anything, but the good stuff they get, they sell. Uh, uh. I'd rather send it to goodwill or sell on half.com myself.

Gabe buys from the bookstore and we both hit the library. I buy a ton for the kids at the thirft store. I love used bookstores and could spend days in there poking around. I guess right now I'd have to say most come from either the thrift store or the library, but I could easily buy from Amazon or Borders if I felt like bringing more books into this house. I'm trying to keep the books to a minimum.

I get most of mine from the second hand bookstore. The lady there knows me by name. I just drop my stuff off behind her desk and chat with her as I browse through her store. Her sister gets weird when I come in, though. I think it makes her uncomfortable that I buy all the magick and occult and ghost story books. :P

Bright Blessings!

Lots of places:

* some @ the Friends of the Library shop
* garage sales -- mostly kids' books; many for homeschooling
* thrift shop -- there's a small one a half-mile away. Sometimes I hit the jackpot!
* Online -- right now, I'm finding good prices for my HSing materials at www.rainbowresource.com

But every now and then something great comes my way. For example, a friend gave my DD about 35 Magic Treehouse Books. Her son had outgrown them!
