When we moved here there was no insulation whatsoever in the walls of our home, not even shavings. They had blown in insulation in the attic.

Many of the old Victorian (brick) homes here has no insulation whatsoever.

What about your old home? Is is batting, shavings or .....?

I'm not really sure. It is older so it is probably very old fashioned stuff. I used to live in a home that had the foam that was put in the holes with a hose.

Well in the attic there is batt type insulation. We added a good layer to it when we moved in. Last winter we added batt insulation to the basement ceiling. Our basement is unfinished and unheated and a huge source of cold air and I had hoped that adding this insulation would at least make our floors warmer. I guess we need to do a little more or a better job.

In the walls there is some kind of weird stuff like the pellets that make up styrene or are in bean bag chairs. It used to leak out into the house on windy days. And sometimes we will find some out in the yard.

Basically our house is cold in the winter. We need to have it re-sided and have insulation added all around the outside then. SOMEDAY!

We have fibreglass batts in the roof space, Mike installed them a couple of years ago.
