How often do you change it?

We use no name clumping kitty litter which we've found to be the most effective. Although I clean it every second day, I'm finding as Sassie has gotten older I have to change the whole box way more often that I use too.

Tidy Cat. Gets changed or cleaned out depending on what it needs every couple of days. With 2 cats, we have to stay on the ball with the litter box or we'd have a mess.

Scooped daily sometimes twice, we use a clumping litter too from Sam's. We can get it in 40# buckets. LOL I'm not sure how often Jack changes it completely, whenever it needs it. :)

I use Fresh Step, but it is SO expensive. I have tried others but I can smell the box the next day. I wish I could find a better cheaper one. What do you pay at Sam's for the 40#'s?

I pay like 8+ for 14 #'s!

Last purchased here was Tidy Cat scoopable in the big bucket.

Robin, It is called 'Litter Clean' and is scented, it is about $8 for the 40# bucket. But with all our cats we also add a sprinkle of Arm & Hammers Litter deodorizer, you find it right by the litter in a grocery store or Wally's for about $2 - $2.50 a box and lasts a long time. HTH You just need muscles to pick the thing up! I usually have Jack get it or take him with me. ;)

Oh and the empty buckets can be used for many things! Jack has one with all the stuff for washing the car in. I have a couple I use outside for picking up debris after big wind storms etc... to take down to the compost. I have stored yarn and books in them to keep things bug free. Lots of uses! :D

Robin, baking soda works too. Just sprinkle a bit on top and then mix it in with the litter. There are no side effects for the cat and the smell is gone.

Wow Dee thats a great price. We pay almost $7 for a 20 lb. bag of no name litter.

Tidy Cat...bought it Sams but I'm not sure of the price...maybe around $10 for 40 pounds. It gets scooped everyday or every other...just depends.

I tried a cheaper brand at Wal-Mart and it was NOT any good. I forgot the name but it came in a pourable bottle.

I am using swheat scoop, but I'm not too happy with it. I was at first. It's flushable. I just didn't realize that you had to let it sit so long in the toilet before flushing. Caused a huge mess in my toilet! And it's very, very dusty. I bought some gel balls type litter from the petstore I'm going to try out next.

We use Tidy Cat regular litter. Since the arrival of the kitten, our litter box routine has become a nightmare. We are still adjusting to how often it needs to be changed and WHO will do it. DD swore up and down when we got the kitten she would be okay with litter box duty, but....... I'm beginning to resign myself to the fact that it will have to be me if I want it done before it stinks. Right now it gets changed about 2x a week -- if I can manage to browbeat and threaten enough until SOMEONE does it. (I detest nagging!)

I've tried the scoopable, but gave up when I couldn't get DD to scoop on a regular basis. Now that I am going to be the litter box attendant I may go back to scoopable.

I use Tidy Cats in the big bucket. Scooped 2 or 3 times/day and changed completely twice a week.

We use PetGold - its a scoopable litter from Petco. You buy a bucket for $16 or so and refills (you bring the bucket back to the store and fill it yourself are $13. (30#s - they also have 16# containers). I have used Arm & Hammer and Tidy cats and to me they always smelled. This one (for me at least!) does the best job at containing the smell, plus I like the refills idea - less consumer waste ending up in the trash.

The box gets cleaned once a week, and we have three cats. They have their own bathroom that has a scented oil air freshner and an Ionic breeze.

hello! I got tired of buying and dumping heavy litter all of the time and I couldn't afford the enviromentally "friendly" type so I found my own- I use pine or cedar shavings that are sold for animal bedding. It is light, really absorbent, is truly inexpensive, and my cat prefers it because it is soft to his paws. My cat didn't go thru shock or rejection when I introduced this to him and I am never changing back again! :D

The Member's Mark Litter Clean brand litter at Sam's Club is hands down the best litter I've used. I used to think that the Tidy Cats Crystals Blend scoopable was the best, but the Litter Clean brand holds together better when scooping. It also (amazingly) improved one of my cat's behavior when it comes to covering his stool.

We usually just get whatever is cheapest of the scoopable variety. We've bought Kitty Diggin's from Walgreens and thought it did real well.

I mix scoopable with clay, scoop it daily and change it weekly for 2 indoor cats.

I was using Fresh Step and used it for years as Arm and Hammer just didn't work well for odor control with my two but this last time I got Tidy cats in the 23lb bucket and it is working great--less dust and it is like microbeads instead of powder and the odor control is working too.

I can't remember what I paid but it was great for the size.

I should also mention that I have a littermaid electric cat box that keeps it clear so how it does if the waste sits is unknown to me.

That littermaid was a smart $100 for me and I just reuse the plastic containers. I have bought new containers ONCE in 3 years.

I use the Sam's Club brand in the big bucket.
I used to buy the Costco brand but since moving we no longer have one close by.

It's a clumpable type litter, and we've been really happy with it.
Both price wise & scent wise.:p
