On the afghan I'm doing, I'm running out of yellow. When I was in the city on Monday I could not find another yellow in the Red Heart Brand. I know I should have had more yellow but I was wanting to use up some of my yarn that I have on hand. I didn't realize I had so little yellow.
Can I change brands now or will it affect the afghan. I'm not concerned about the color but about the thickness of the yarn. HELP!!

I need HELP quick. If I can't use different brands of yarn, I need to try to find the brand of yarn I'm using right now and I'm getting really low.

CJ, you can use a different brand but you may need to change the size of the hook you use. Measure how many stitches you have over 4 inches with the old brand. Then using the same hook make a sample using the same stitch with the new brand. If you have the same number of stitches you are okay. If you have less stitches uses a smaller hook and if you have more stitches use a bigger hook.

Thanks Chriss.
Yep, Chriss is right CJ, hope you find your brand so you don't have to play with it. :)

I've looked everywhere for it and can't find it. So I've decided to continue in the blue and white and then do the 2 rows at the bottom of the quilt in yellow like I did the top rows. I have enough yellow for that.
Fooling around with stitches would probably mean for me having a odd size afghan. It would drive me nuts. :D
That is exactly what I would do CJ, save the yellow and just repeat it on the other end, no one will ever be the wiser that isn't how you planned it! ;)

One of the things that I love about crochet is that you can be creative ;) Good call CJ. I hate fooling around with gauge too!

Did you get it done?
You could also poll other members for a few skeins of the color or else check on ebay. They sell a lot of leftover yarns sometimes.
