My mom gave me $200 for my birthday. Its burning a hole in my pocketbook. I was going to use it for my garden. Then I got to thinking I'd like to spend it on some wild indulgences.
What would you do with it? Remember this forum isn't about frugality. ;) Help me spend it and tomorrow I'll let you know exactly what I did with it.

I'd put it in your dream machine fund.;)

Knowing what I know I say hit the quilting shop and fat quarter up a blazing storm~

Personally, I'd buy books, but I have a feeling that you'll be buying fat quarters! And well you should! Birthday money is for WHATEVER you want it to be for!
I see you buying something totally different. Maybe something you've eyed for a while but never bought, something totally just for you. That's all my crystal ball is showing right now. LOL Could it be a new outfit complete with new shoes, maybe in bright red.

Ladies I just couldn't spend it. Okay I did buy a blade for my rotary cutter but otherwise I put it in the bank. I even went to the gardening store. I found a number of cute things for the garden. I looked at the price and almost flipped out. I still might go back there and purchase something really outrageous for the garden.
Why is it so hard to buy something outrageous for yourself?

CJ, I like you, got money from my mother(s) for my birthday. And the first thing I bought was socks and underwear. I just couldn't force myself to spend it on anything that wasn't practical! I think it must be a defective gene or something.
I hope you find something you want to buy and enjoy your birthday gift!
CJ it's just the homemaker in us. We always put the family needs before our own. I still hope you find at least a little something special for yourself and buy it.
I like Darlene's idea! :D I am in need (not desperate) of a new sewing machine, so that is what I would do with it.
But like the rest of you, I would probably put it towards bills or for a rainy day too. LOL

Hey, came up with an idea! LornaJoy's fat quarter club.....you'd be receiving fat quarters all year :)
See, I can't get f/q's off the brain :D
If I had $200, I'd buy this:

I just love it and don't know why I love it so much. Maybe because it matches my 1950's pink bathroom. rofl
I hope you find something you enjoy. :)
I'm another one who has trouble spending my gift money. I still have $70 of Christmas money hiding in my purse. For me I think it's a comfort knowing I have some money for the unexpected.

If I had got $200 to spend on me, I would get me some new clothes, some scrapbooking and computer stuff, get a manicure and a dye job/hair cut at a nice salon.....oh, I could go on...there are so many things that I used to get when I had a full-time job but hardly ever indulge in now.

Its still waiting to be spent. One of these days I'll see something I really like and get it. Hmmmm not sure when, just one of these days.

CJ~ I would do just what you do did, put it in the bank and wait to see what I really wanted to spend it on.
I still have a $50.00 GC to Wal-Mart from Christmas LOL, I've been known to hang onto them for even longer than that. But once I decided I wanted a new campstove as a back up (we live way out in the country and can have long power outages) I was able to add a little money and get exactly the one I wanted.
