Okay, there maaaaybe a few more out there who are worse. But I tell ya, there are a million other things I can find to do aside from housekeeping. Also, I'm a tornado by nature. Everywhere I go, there is a little trail left behind me, like Pigpen from Charlie Brown. Then it's such a chore to clean it all up! If I think about it and make a concerted effort I can 'clean as I go" but that only lasts for so long then I'm back to my slovenly habits. I'll go look for undies and think "has it really been two weeks since I did laundry?!? Where *does* the time go? I wasn't raised in a tidy house, but I'm bound and determined to become a tidy person - or at least a reasonably tidy person.

i can cook, sew, spin, can, paint, build, grow, knit, crochet, nurture, create, decorate..... but the tidying alludes me.

I've created a chore chart for myself. I'm hoping this will keep things done in an orderly fashion.

I am hoping it helps me get organized about cleaning chores.

It's done on a table so i can check off what I do. I'm starting my new regime on Monday (I am working a million jobs until then and will be lucky if I get a sandwich in until then).

Are there any other messy people on this site? What do you do to keep the house liveable?

I'm not at all organized. I've tried a million times I think and it doesn't work for me. I get what needs to be done done, kwim. At times my house looks like a cyclone hit it, other times its spic and span.

I've worked on decluttering more than anything. I find if I can get rid of things, I can get more things in order. One thing I wish is that there would be no flat furniture or appliances. It seems things always get put on a flat surface (dresser, fridge, microwave). I am getting better at it though.

My kids also take care of their own rooms. I will go through their bedrooms every couple months and pick up papers, go through their clothes, etc. Otherwise its their domain.

Right now my kitchen is a disaster. Then again I've been doing tons of preserving over the past month. It will probably look that way until I'm finished. Also I find summer is hard to keep up with everything as I have a huge garden. It takes precident over having a spotless home.

My kids also come before a spotless house. They'll be gone in a few years and its more important to me to be nuturing them that it is to have every nook and cranny spotless.

I'm sure there are worse housekeepers than you are out there. As for myself, I am not the best, but I'm not the worst either. I deal with my house the best I know how. I get aggravated at times, and wonder just how did we get all this stuff, and I feel mad about it all, but I just do the best I can.

I'm terrible at housework also. Plus my 5 year old is in a really messy stage. She destroys the house in a few minutes when she goes into a room and gets into all kinds of things. Right now, I can't wear makeup because she gets it and rubs it everywhere. I have to hide it and she still finds it. My girls are also in a fighting stage and it is stressful here.

I did clean my stove top and countertops last evening. I need to clean my ice box inside.

I'm pretty much a tornado. I leave a little trail.... However, my partner is out of town for 4 days and I think I'm going to scrub the place down while I have the place to myself.

I'm using 'declutter strategies" from frugal village. Wish me luck.

My house is either heaven or hell, no in-between bits. I can have a blitz when the kids are at school and the baby is sleeping, then they all come in and I think .... WHY!!!!

Trying to do bit at a time now, de-cluttering & cleaning as I go. Finding all sorts of things I didn't even know I had so using e-bay quite a bit just now.

I need some good motivation cos there is nearly always something I would prefer to be doing.
