I thought we could list some ways that we make guests feel welcome in our home when they are visiting.

We seldom have guests overnight. However I stayed at my aunts a couple years ago and I won't ever forget that time. My mom was with me and they made us feel so very special.

In my mom's room, she had a tea tray on her bed along with a bottle of perfume wrapped for my mom. She had fresh flowers in both rooms. In the bathroom, she had baskets for each of us, filled with special treats - special soap, shampoo, booklets for us to read and the softest towels I have ever used.

It was better than staying at the ritziest hotel.

Each meal was special and made to please us. She took us to places that she knew we would enjoy. We stayed for 3 days and it was pure heaven.

I'd like to start a gift closest.
I love having fresh flowers when we do get company.

Great thread Sara.

~I stock up on their fav foods & drinks & plan my menu accordingly but throw in some new dishes if I'm sure they will be up their ally.

~Plan activities they will enjoy

~told to make themselves at home, please feel free at anytime to grab a drink out of the fridge and not to hesitate to ask for anything they need.

~ offer to wash their clothes or let them do their own.

~be a good listener

~pack them a nice lunch to eat on the road as they drive home

~send them home with things from my garden

~to visitors only here for a few hours, offer food and drink and comfortable place to sit and talk.

It depends on "which type of guests" they are.

I will always show them around and tell them to please make themselves at home. We always try to make the guest room as cozy as possible and have the bed turned down if they arrive in the late evening. I offer extra blankets in the winter and show them how to operate the ceiling fan in the summer. I love burning candles and feel that this adds an inviting warmth to my home.
